View 2 RepliesI am trying to use the datapump tool to migrate a 10g db to 11g. Everything works fine except for the "nameless" check constraints.
View 7 Replies View RelatedHere are the cards I've been dealt:
I've inherited a 10.2.0.1.0 instance running on a windows 2003 box; running fine, no problems other than system has been in production since 2005 and has gotten pretty old and tired. This old box has one tablespace on it... called "gateway".
I've installed 11.2.0.1 on a new (Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise 64-bit) server and created an empty database also called "gateway".
Now to move the data and views, objects, everything.
I've read up on a variety of migration techniques (oops, I mean "upgradation" LOL) and can follow the steps...
In short, I want to pull everything off of server a (10.2) and put it into production on server b (11.2). There seems to be quit a few options.
1. install 10.2 on my NEW server (server b), move the data over and get everything running, then install 11.2 and have it upgrade the database as part of the installation process.
2. drop the empty tablespace on server b, stop the database on server a, copy the files over from the old to the new home, run DBUA or set the compatibility attribute...
3. run some type of server a to server b utility that can bridge the two over the network. Some type of mirroring technique?
4. run file export scripts on server a, copy files to server b and run various import scripts
I tend to think that option 3 would be the best because both instances are in great health and are running right now. Is there a mechanism that allows the 11.2 instance to see and upgrade from a different server?
I am using expdp/impdp to migrate 4 TB database from solaris to Linux. But the import process is taking forever.

I am having query regarding sql loader. my data file is comm(,) seperated and I want to load the whole file in oracle table 'bill_temp' except 1st column data of data file.
e.g.
File name: bill_file.dat
fields seperated by comma ','
values are like
emp_id,emp_name,emp_sal,join_date
oracle table bill_temp having the below column:
emp_name,emp_sal,join_date
Here I want load the emp_name,emp_sal and join_date into oracle table bill_temp.
emp_id should not get loaded into table.
Is there any way to skip the loading of particular column data from data file into table?
I have a text file called ReturnedFile.txt. This is a comma separated text file that contains records for two fields.... Envelope and Date Returned.
At the same time, I have a table in Oracle called Manifest. This table contains the following fields:
Envelope
DateSentOut
DateReturned
I need to write something that imports the ReturnedFile.txt into a temporary Oracle table named UploadTemp, and then compares the data in the Envelope field from UploadTemp with the Envelope field in Manifest. If it's a match, then the DateReturned field in Manifest needs updated with the DateReturned field in UploadTemp.
I've done this with SQL Server no problem, but I've been trying for two days to make this work with Oracle and I can't figure it out. I've been trying to use SQL*Loader, but I can't even get it to run properly on my machine.
I did create a Control file, saved as RetFile.ctl. Below is the contents of the CTL file:
LOAD DATA
INFILE 'C:OracleTestReturnedFile.txt'
APPEND
INTO TABLE UploadTemp
FIELDS TERMINATED BY "'"
(
ENVELOPE,
DATERETURNED
)
If I could get SQL*Loader running, below is the code I came up with to import the text file and then to do the compare to the Manifest table and update as appropriate:
sqlldr UserJoe/Password123 CONTROL=C:OracleTestRetFile.ctl LOG=RetFile.log BAD=RetFile.bad
update Manifest m set m.DateReturned =
(select t.DateReturned
from UploadTemp t
where m.Envelope = t.Envelope
*)
That's all I got. As I said, I can't find a way to test it and I have no idea if it's even close.
im trying to migrate Sybase 12.5 to oracle 11G R2 on linux all tables are fine expect one which fails with error

I'm trying to migrate an Apex Application from one server to a newer server . My custom app I used the theme from Go Live CheckList samples....
Well, when trying to install that application I get 'Insufficient space to install application ' with a BIG red X... I was able to install other Package Application except for the one I need and now my application errors out because of some shared Themes. At first I thought it was a DB thing so I downgraded back to 10g from 11....but that didn't work... Apex works fine...
Other samples work fine...Version Apex 4.2.2 and Oracle XE 10g...

I want to migrate only single 1 big table (with 5M rows and LOB. CLOB columns) from sqlserver to oracle.
I tried migration workbench sqldeveloper but I can not follow thru the guide.
Can you give me a link/doc for single table copy/migration?
I tried following this >

But I got stock on the diagram because the one I got is different from the figure in the doc guide.
Ths one is from the doc guide above. Note that it has "Migration" tab menu.[URL]...
And this is the latest sqldev 3.2 I got and there is no "Migration" in the menu. Hence I am stuck. I tried to down load sldev 3.0 and still it has no "migration" option.I wish th doc mentioned what sqldev version

In My Organization we are using Oracle Application server now we want to introduce Weblogic server.
Here we have 2 web servers and 3 application servers.
Now we want migrate to weblogic server.. Ho can we migrate to Weblogic server.
I did the following to migrate.
1. After the installtion of Oracle 9.2 I created the service using oradim.
2. Should I need to copy my old datafiles to 9.2 before using the migrate option?
3. Should I need to startup the database before migrate?
I'm importing data from SQL Server to Oracle. I used BCP to export the data from SQL Server. Below is the 1st record of table trlc from the csv file.
trlc.CSV
11032|100|Wman| | |2008-02-08| |
Using SQL Loader to import into Oracle:
TRLC table in Oracle database:
est_no varchar2(10) default ' '
right_no number(4) default 0
maj_auth varchar2(15) default ' '
weight varchar2(10) default ' '
idm_ht varchar2(8) default ' '
c_date date
P_tkt varchar2(5) default ' '
sqlldr user/pwd@db02 control=trlc.ctl log=trlc.log
trlc.ctL:
load data
infile 'trlc.csv'
replace
into table trlc
fields TERMINATED BY '|'
TRAILING NULLCOLS
(est_no,right_no,maj_auth,weight,idm_ht,c_date,P_tkt)
The rows get inserted successfully. But the result sets are different, for example: When I do a select in SQL Server,'select len(weight) from trlc;' , I get the length as 0. But when I do a select in oracle database, I get the length as 1. Also, the result set varies for the query below:
select * from trlc where weight=' ';
(SQL Server returns 1 row but Oracle returns no rows)
Do I need to mention any conversion code for the weight field to accept ' ' value?
We have a table in Oracle9i database with around 14 million records and we would like to import that table into 10g database with similar structure. We have exported the table from 9i database and would like to import the table into 10g database within same schema name with different table name as we already have the table with same name in 10g database in same schema. Is it possible to import a table with different table name?
We have a way around to import the table into 10g database in another schema and then push the data into our main table but want to know whether the above requirement is possible.
I tried to export a schema excluding some table, but expdp exit with this error:
ORA-39001: invalid argument value
ORA-39071: Value for EXCLUDE is badly formed.
ORA-00936: missing expression
The command that I use is:
expdp system/password@ORADB directory=EXPORT_ORA_DIR schemas=maxdb logfile=maxdb.log
dumpfile=maxdb.dump EXCLUDE=TABLE:"IN ('max_table_1','max_table_2')";
Where I made a mistake?
I want to import my oracle 9i dump file into oracle 10g version. What should i do ???
