I have an Oracle database 11.1.0.6 with ASM storage.

There is a disk group named +FRA which has only 1 disk (call it disk 0 for later references).
+FRA disk group is in type of EXTERNAL redundancy
I'd like to add another disk to +FRA disk group and copy all files stored in disk 0 to the new disk (call it disk 1 for ex.), then take off disk 0 (not use for +FRA disk group any more).
Expected result: there is only one disk 1 left in the +FRA disk group, with all the data from disk 0 and keep their original file names
I have a database started using pfile and spfile parameter shows NULL from command prompt as below:
******************************************************************
Connected to:
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
SQL> show parameter spfile

Now when I want to change/switch database to start using SPFILE, can I do it with out restarting (shutdown and startup)the database.
I have a requirement to monitor the PGA utilization with time to time. Provide a good script which will effectively show the pga utilization.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy context on our servers is the following one:
- one ASM instance
- X DB instances
- each DB instance uses 2 or more dedicated diskgroups from the ASM instance
- there is one diskgroup named FREEDISK that contains spare disks
On each DB instance you can see:
- the list and global parameters of all diskgroups using v$asm_diskgroup view
- the list and parameters of all disks the instance is using with v$asm_disk view
So my question is: how (if this is possible) to know the list of (spare) disks in FREE DISK disk group?
How to check for the increment of a space of the tablespace based on the particular table. (i.e.) Say a scenario, if am trying to load the data for a particular table, for first I loaded some 10000 records and then again loading 50000 records ,so based on the icrement of the reocrds the tablespace size also increases gradually . so for this scenario how to monitor the increment of the space.
View 13 Replies View RelatedMy application is opening a lot of sessions in my DB server. I applied resource_limit=true and idle_time=15 min. ans assign this profile to all application user.
Now I am seeing a lot of sessions having status sniped in v$session.
I want to clean up these sniped sessions and what they mean.
what does 'SNIPED' status in v$session mean? It is killed/ clear from instance automatically or need to kill manually for releasing the resource.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne of our developers team member had created a Anonymous block program to do something in the Database, and he forgotten and terminated the session without confirming the program's status, whether it was fully ran or not.
Is there any way to check out the status of this, which happened yesterday?
I am running ORACLE 10.2.0 on Windows Virtual PC. System: Microsoft Windows XP SP3.
Yesterday I wanted to make a copy of my Virtual Machine Hard Drive Image. I directly copied all the files to my external hard drive, but I forgot shutting down my virtual machine when I was doing this.
Today I found my instance failed startup.
In OEM, it is showing:
Agent Connection to Instance
Status: Failed
Details ORA-12505: TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach)
In SQLPlus:
SQL> connect sys/password as sysdba
Connected to an idle instance
SQL> startup
ORACLE instance started.
[code]....
I need to display the parameter and status of DB for listener and Read Only.
I know those value could be get from command line , but could we get the values of Listener and Read only by SQL/PlSQL? So I can get it through the query of DB.
We performed image copy of production Oracle server (OS and instances) to a backup server. After a few weeks, we try to restore a latest Oracle database backup from production server to backup server. As we know, Oracle instance must be unique on the network.
Even we log on to backup server and bring up the instance, I think that still point to production instance since all init file, TNSNAMES.ora and listener file are still same. If we restore the database, we will end up bring down the production instance and restore on top of productions. How to change instance name on backup server including TNSNAMES, sqlnet, listener files in order for us to restore Oracle database from production to backup server?

What seems to be a problem here? I've been trying to fix this for few weeks.
I am learning to create an ASM (Automatic Storage Management) instance using dbca.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've to install Oracle 10g on Solaris 10, Sparc. I prepared anything successfully, but, when I gone to create ASM instance, I found the Create new bow did not show any disks into. I take brief something:
1- Sparc & disks preparation:
# isainfo

# ls -lL /dev/rdsk/c4t50060E800570B715d0s6

We imaged production Oracle Server ( OS and Oracle and everything) to a backup server. I guess my question shall be how do we access the local instance via this backup server. When we log on to this backup server, we ran sqlplus and connected to the instance but it ended up to connect to production instance. Shall we stopped local Oracle services and change init.ora, tnsname, or listener files in order not conflict with production instance?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of shemas inside an instance... How to organize them?
What I see is a long list of schemas which could be difficult to manage if number of schemas grows up... For example, I'd like to group Schema_1, Schema_2 and Schema_3 in something like Group_1, so it could be seen more organized.
Group_1
Schema_1
Schema_2
Schema_3
Sometimes a java or .net application uses 3 or 4 schemas... these schemas are in the same instance which has other schemas for other applications.
create an ASM (Automatic Storage Management) instance using dbca. At first try I mistakenly skipped the part where I click on ASM Parameters to add /dev/raw/raw* as my asm_diskstring so it created an ASM instance. When I get to the next page ASM Disk Groups, I selected Create New and I did not have the desired display, because of the step I missed.
I went back to do some cleaning up as follows:
1) Edit the oratab file to remove the ASM entry
2) backed up these files by renaming to old-<filename>
old-ab_+ASM.dat
old-hc_+ASM.dat
old-lk+ASM
old-orapw+ASM
old-spfile2+ASM.ora
3) killed the following processes (kill -9):
oracle 1590 1 0 22:52 ? 00:00:00 asm_pmon_+ASM
oracle 1592 1 0 22:52 ? 00:00:00 asm_psp0_+ASM
oracle 1594 1 0 22:52 ? 00:00:00 asm_mman_+ASM
oracle 1596 1 0 22:52 ? 00:00:00 asm_dbw0_+ASM
oracle 1598 1 0 22:52 ? 00:00:00 asm_lgwr_+ASM
[code]....
4) Run the following as root:
/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin/localconfig delete
5) Restarted the database
Now when I try to go through the steps to create an ASM instance, at the point after I enter my ASM Parameters, I get the following prompt:
"DBCA will now create and start the ASM instance. After the ASM instance is started you can create the diskgroups to be used as storage for your database."
I click OK. Then I get the error message:

I got this error after i patch to 10.2.0.4.0. Before patch, database running smooth.
I shutdown as usual using shutdown only.
Find an appropriate script to automate Oracle DBs in one server? This db server have 6 instances. We always done the starting up and shutting down manually, although we have a reference script that does this but in Oracle v7.3.4. We do want to include the automatic start/stop of dbconsole for accessing it via OEM.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI configure exadata + 2 switch between application server and and exadata. And we have problem to connect to switch and load balancing between Ethernet switch to exadata.
We might end up that is 'How about remove ethernet switch and directly connect to exadata?' I don't know which idea comes up with Ethernet gigabit switch between application server and exadata, exadata might be gigabit.
but from application server to ethernet switch is still 100M network, it is only fast in that load, other load is still 100m , it might useless. and about load balancing, exadata is RAC cluster node, exadata is doing load balancing, why we want another load balancing feature of ethernet switch?
Is it good idea to have dual switch between application server and exadata? exadata iti is what might be pro and con of this setting? exadata is handled by oracle support team, but dual switch is only cared by application operation team, so if something wrong with switch, nobody except operation team can manage .
I have got another curly one with regard to Sql Loader. My original issue via [message #513696] was resolved. In summary, SQL Loader opens a comma delimited csv file and it is able to successfully populate the appropriate Oracle table. However, during the run to process each unique csv file, SQL Loader produces a both a .log file (indicating what transpired during the load) and a .bad file of the records from the csv file that where rejected by SQL Loader.
the users have requested that "is it possible to update a separate table of the summary results of what went wrong and what was right?" It just so happens that the csv file contains some summary records (rows) with processing audit infor...as the following .bad file wrote out....

Mis-read %,0.06,,,,,,,,,,
1. The first record (starting in the 1st postion is "ModuleID") is a heading record in the csv file and can be disregarded.
2. The secord record (starting in the 1st postion is "No Module ID") is an error record in the csv file and can be disregarded.
3. The third record (starting in the 1st postion 3500B9880611170260179BFB, ) is a valid record, however, is was rejected as it is a duplicate of a preceeding record ...and the log indicates ...
Record 124: Rejected - Error on table PTLIVE.MODULE_CSV_LOADS.
ORA-00001: unique constraint (PTLIVE.MODULE_SERIAL_NUMBER_UK) violated
4. The fourth record (starting in the 1st postion is ,,,,,,,,,,,
) is a blank record in the csv file and can be disregarded.
5. The fifth record (starting in the 1st postion is "Total Modules" has a value of 1602 which I need to capture to write into a separate table.
6. The sixth record (starting in the 1st postion is "Mis-reads" ) has a value of 1 which I need to capture to write into a separate table.
7. The last record in the csv file and can be disregarded.
The summary Oracle table is
CREATE TABLE PTLIVE.SUBMODULES_SUMMARY
( IMPORT_CSV_FILE_NAME VARCHAR2(256 ),
TOTAL_SUBMODULES_LOADED NUMBER (5),
TOTAL_SUBMODULES_MIS_READ NUMVER (5),
DATEIMPORTED DATE default SYSDATE
)
Now I would like to trap the value 1602 and load that into the Oracle column TOTAL_SUBMODULES_LOADED and the value 1 and load this into TOTAL_SUBMODULES_MIS_READ.
The name of the csv file is known and I can (as the previous [message #513696] resolved) simply use a SQL Loader control file command > IMPORT_ CSV_FILE_NAME CONSTANT "Batch_2011Jun29_TEST.csv".
