I tried to restart the server and sometimes it comes backup. I have backups but really like to solve this issue. I know where the control files are located but not sure what would be good point to start this.

if it is possible to install APEX version 3.0.1 on oracle database version 11.2.0.3? We currently have a 10g database with APEX 3.0.1 installed. Now for an upgrade project we need install the latest database version. Unfortunately we do not have enought time to migrate the APEX application. Therefore the APEX version should stay the same.
So any experiences with APEX 3.0.1 and RDBMS 11.2?(I searched for oracle documentation but couldn't find anything useful.)

Environment:
Oracle RDBMS 10g R2.
DB OS: HP Itanium
We use Oracle EBS R12.1.2 in our company and one of the analyst reported performance with saving the configuration in Pricing module. The common fix is to gather stats on BOM_EXPLOSIONS table. Recently, when the issue occurred I collected statistics on the table. The performance didnt improve. I went ahead and decided to trace the Oracle form session using the profile 'Initialization SQL Statement - Custom" at user level.
I also monitored the session in OEM 10g grid. The analyst performed the same set of steps and the performance was normal and acceptable. Analyst tried again and performance was matching with the expectation. I cleared the trace profile and analyst tried again. This time analyst had worse performance as the original issue. The issue got fixed later part of the day on its own. This has made me curious and thought to discuss it here.
I have had similar experience with 10g and 11g, when I enable the trace on the issue cannot be reproduced and when trace is off the issue pops back up.

I have a form which contains some block (each block with some text item, two radio groups and a list item). I want to enable/disable and set visible property as true/false for first to last items of each block conditionally. I can do that for all items but radio buttons.
Because to set item or radio button property I need to pass that items ID or Name as parameter. I can get items name/type using get_block_property and next item of that item using get_item_property but unable to get radio button ID/Name using get_radio_button_property or any other built in. To execute get_radio_button_property or set_radio_button_property I need to pass radio button ID/Name. So, how I track radio button id or name in oracle forms? Is it limitations of Oracle forms?

we received a design advise to add columns to track the update and delete done on each row in our tables:
- DELETED_DATE_TIME
- DELETED_BY
- UPDATE_DATE_TIME
- UPDATED_BY
In our architecture, the application can only access functions/procedures to access/modify data. Each function logs the action, the executed sql statement, oracle error, user terminal, and the user into a unified log table by using v$ tables to create a general log function that is called after execution or error.
The only advantage is that it will be easier to know the delete and last update information faster versus space and design modification.

What could be the reasons that some queries execute fast when executed on sqlplus on server, whereas the same queries run slower with same input values fed from application screen?
One issue I guess would be bind variable peeking while using application whereas executing from sqlplus is causing hard parsing and thus getting rid of "peeking"
If displaying the data on application screen is taking time after data has been fetched, where I can see this delay?
I understand the elapsed time under 'Fetch' in tkprof will show time taken to fetch from database and not the time taken to be displayed in the application GUI
finally how to set arraysize in jdbc to improve performance by reducing roundtrips?

I was given a task by manager to keep track of changes on a given table including os_user who made it.Should I create a trigger on it (on any update, insert, delete etc.) or there is a better way of doing it ?I think there could be some info already in some data dictionary views or something like it.
If I CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG on that table.

In the program i wrote, posted in this thread I parallelize 340 jobs.
To do this, according to oracle documentation, i set the job_queue_processes parameters to 450. This works fine, all jobs are submitted, but, when i chek the dba_scheduler_job_run_details, i notice that there is a difference between REQ_START_DATE, which is my requested start date, when i enabled my job, and the ACTUAL_START_DATE, which is the date on which Oracle start this process.
And the more i submit job, the more difference between ACTUAL_START_DATE and REQ_START_DATE increase. But for each job, run duration is less than 1second. I check the processes parameter, and it is set to 100. if i have to increase the processes parameter to 450 too ?

Is there any way to tell what processes/sessions were connected to a DB after I get an ORA 20error. As you can see from the query results below, I did hit the max value of processes but I would like to know when it happen and who was connected.
I realize I can up the value, but before I do that I want to see what caused this to happen.

i got this error..
ORA-00020: maximum number of processes (1100) exceeded
my oracle version is 10.2.0.2.0
when i was trying to login to oracle i got :ERROR at line 1: ORA-01012: not logged on
lucky i was having another sqlplus login ..
wht i should do to bring the number of process down without increasing the process value and shuting/restaring down db.
"Usually, when this happens, I want to get connected to the instance, so that I can try to figure out which user is causing the problem. One way to do that is to use the 'ps' command to identify some of the oldest server processes, and kill the 3-5 oldest processes, and then quickly try connecting to the database. Once you're in, you can look at things like V$SESSION to try and determine which user(s) is (are) consuming so many connections, and then go from there."
this is what i got from [URL]....
1.if i am giving ps -ef in OS it will give lot of detail ...
2. in v$session wht i should look for ....

I don't know if there is a beginner forum out there for PL SQL, but I cannot find one.I just started taking an Intermediate Oracle course to learn PL SQL. Today is my first day and I just installed Oracle 11g. I was in SQL Plus, tried the edit command. I got the message "wrote file Afiedt.buf" and then it was just a flashing cursor in the line below. I could not type any commands. I just hit the X to close the program.
What could I have done to exit the program with that flashing cursor since I was unable to type anything?

I am using Oracle 11g R2. (11.2.0.3)
I know that in the profiles of the user I can set limit for the number of sessions per database user, using the below command:
alter profile <profile_name> limit sessions_per_user=<required_number>;
I need to set maximum number of processes for the application user so in case they opened too many number of processes on the database they do not block the automated jobs to be run.My questions:
1. set a limit on sessions_per_user is it the same as a limit on processes? 1 proccess= 1 session ? Is there any way to limit the number of processes (not sessions) for a database user?
2. I am using RAC so the number of sessions is per the whole database, while the max number of processes is by instance (not database), so even I set a limit on the number of sessions (above the limit of processes for one of the instances) one instance may face ORA-20 errors, while the max number of sessions did not hit the limit. is there any workaround for this case?
