i am trying insert data from one DB to other DB table. one field data type is LONG in first DB table, Same field data type in other DB is CLOB.
i used TO_LOB function to convert from LONG to CLOB data type.
My problem is, i used this TO_LOB function, i got illegal operation of LONG Data type.
I have a task to update one of the rows in a table (having only 2 columns, number and long) which is long data type. We are on Oracle 10g. Not sure how to use update for a long data type column.

We are working on a performance tuning aspect, where in a table has a LONG datatype and number of round trips are increasing based on the number of rows fetched.i.e one round trip for every row.
Background.
1. created a table with LONG data type.
2. inserted bulk load of data.
3. set auto trace on and executed below tests..
SQL> select count(*) from test_long;

SQL> desc test_long

but on LONG column, irrespective of the array size the round trips does not reduce.
I have an issue with rather complicated function.Basically it is using DBMS_SQL to execute a very long statement with many parameters (~6000 of them) and binding them with DBMS_SQL.BIND_VARIABLE. Variables are called :1,:2,...,:6000.
When this arguments set is too large - I am receiving error "ORA-00939: too many arguments for function".
Currently I am thinking about dividing the query into subqueries and executing them all with performance decrease.
A sample query to check whether a string contains 2 upper characters and numbers are present in that character using regular_exp .

I have 3 user defined collection types. I am trying to access the type3's attribute in type1 body (like backward accessing).
Ex. My Collection Types Structure (something like master detail structure)

The get Response procedure is a wrapper procedure exposed to Java to pass values. The Process Response procedure is a main procedure where all logics and business rules are handled.
The Problem is:
How can I pass the values from get Response procedure to Process Response procedure. So that rules and validations are applied. Please note the p_ticket_tab may have many ticket numbers corresponding to p_call_request_id.

I'm trying to populate collection type from XMLType. I was able to populate a table from XMLType but any way to populate the collection type. Here is the description of my problem:

I have a physical table which is created when I registered a schema.
A table (Temp_Result) got created with column SYS_NC_ROWINFO$ which is of XMLType.
As you can see this is only a temporary table which will store the response XML which I want to finally get it to collection type.
XML to parse:
