Replication :: Two Schemas To Be Moved / Replicated To New Reporting Database
Oct 19, 2011
I would like to know the Replication method which is fast and the best approach,we need two schemas to be moved/replicated to a new reporting database. It appears that data is to be flown in one way,do we proceed with Materialized view replication or please clarify about Oracle Streams and Advanced replication. what are the factors to decide the replication method.
I'm looking for solutions to make real time replications from an Oracle 8i database.
For more details : - we have an existing database with Oracle 8i - we want to replicate this database: the replicated database will be used by a web application. - we need the replication to be in real-time (we wish to have the shortest lag)
For the moment i didn't find much information on the web and it seems that replication solutions for the version 8i are quiet limited.
Some more details :
- The responsible want imperatively that the web application work with a replicated database, without interacting directly with the original one. - An evolution of oracle should be done but within some years so were trying to find a solution rapidly with 8i.
I was considering a solution to maintain a replicated copy of a database in a remote office. However we are using SE One edition of oracle, so native support for dataguard is not available. There definitely should be some scripting solutions for this task, but I can't find any to date.
I want to audit user connection on my reporting database, and send a report to application team on monthly basis, with a list of users who are not connected for a month and remove them.
What would be best method, i know there is LOGON trigger, or database level auditing.
I working on a Production Environment, where our Database is running on a IBM-AIX platform.I need to implement Logical standby database for reporting purposes, in order to improve the performance. Now the transaction and the reporting is done at the same site itself.I want to know that, operating system and platform architecture (RAM size, no. of CPUs, ORACLE_HOME etc..) on the primary and standby systems must be same or can be different. complete configuration for Dataguard. My os version is,
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production TNS for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
i need to set up a central server with all the master tables and two other local database which will hold the updatable materialized view of the master table...the databases must be synchronized with central server..and user will work on the materialized view database...
I have materialized view replication setup in an Oracle 10g environment. Inserts and Updates are being propogated as expected. When a record in the master table is deleted, there are no entries being written to the materialized view logs, and hence, the delete is not propogated to the materialized view on the remote server.
The Materialized View is defined with FAST Refresh and the refesh occurs avery 5 minutes. This allows me to see what entries are written to the mv logs before they are consumed. I thought that all DML statements get written to the mv logs and am lost to explain this behavior. The matser table definition is not very complex. It has a PK defined and two UK Constaints but does not even have any FK constraints defined. There are a couple of triggers defined on this table for Insert, Update and Delete which write audit table records but I can't see how this could affect things. There are no errors being generated on the master table side in the DB or that the application sees.
My primary objective was to compare objects in schemas in two different databases and find out the differences, Execute DDL's in the database where objects are missing and syn schemas in two different databases. So I need to compare schemas in databases. make a comparison of database objects existing in schemas in two different databases. I'd like to see if I can get a list of pro and cons between Toad and SQL Developer for comparing schemas pros and cons. navigation in SQL Developer to compare schemas.
Connect to Source Connect to Target Compare schemas with different object types Find out differences Generate DDL's for the missing objects or for the objects in difference report Run them in missing instace(Source/Target) Make sure both are in sync.
I created a materialized view with REFRESH FAST WITH PRIMARY KEY, which I assume generated its own PK for the materialized view (well, something certainly did, and it wasn't me); however, I did not include USING INDEX TABLESPACE <tablespace>, so the PK was generated in the same tablespace as the materialized view itself. The "problem" is, this particular database has a separate tablespace into which all of the indexes are supposed to go.
Is there any way, short of dropping and recreating the materialized view (which took 24 hours in the first place), to move the system-generated PK to a different tablespace?
For that matter, is there a reason why I wouldn't want to do this?
I was told to move 8 tables along with constraints, indexes, grants, rows, triggers from one database to another database.I did export and import for that. The command i used was
Connected to: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options Export done in WE8MSWIN1252 character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR

Here is the import output log Connected to: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options

Everything got imported successfully . Still i have a doubt in export and import command, whether the command that i used for export and import was correct or if there is anything need to be added in command.
I have a question about recyclebin. When i drop a table, the talbe will be moved to recyclebin, the name is changed to BIN$...,but the constraint built on the table aren't moved to recyclebin and their name are also BIN$...,why?
My requirement is to get the number of rejections happened on that day after the batch cycle for the tables with the high level qualifier DDXX_REJ_EMP* and list out each table followed by the rejection cause and count.
Expected Result ----------------------------------------------------------------- TABLE NAME : DDXX_REJ_EMPLOYEE REJECTION_CAUSE COUNT ID LIST MISSING 25 MANDAORY FIELDS IS NULL 56
TABLE NAME : DDXX_REJ_EMPLOYEE_DEPEND REJECTION_CASUE COUNT ID LIST MISSING 25 MANDAORY FIELDS IS NULL 56
Given below is the create statement for one of the table.
SAMPLE_DATA DDXX_REJ_EMPLOYEE REJECTION_CAUSE INTEG_REJ_DATE INVALID ID 31-OCT-10 INCORRECT FIELD 31-OCT-10 INVALID ID 31-OCT-10 INCORRECT FIELD 31-OCT-10
I need to group by the rejection cause and integ_rej_date for all the tables.
I am using OEM Grid control 10g for monitoring/reporting purposes and a bit new to OEM.I am able to generate database alerts sent via email say for DB_abc1 and also generate reports.I installed Oracle 10g agent on a another box and lets say with DB_abc2 running on it,and did not realise that there was a database control already installed on that box, so I
1.Uninstalled database control on DB_abc2 box. 2.Uninstalled Oracle 10g agent and re-installed it on DB_abc2 box. 2.Was able to configure the DB_abc2 database from OEM Grid control gui ie the dbsnmp user password and was able to connect to it.
But when I put in alert for things like ORA-XXXX errors I am not getting any emails, also when I put in database usage reports(to be sent via emails) the reports are not picking up any data, they are empty.
I checked the agent on the box in question and the heart beat is OK, and I manually uploaded using "emctl upload" and it is sucessful. The only alerts I am getting for DB_abc1 is the agent up/down thats it.
DB_abc1 is a 9208 database and DB_abc2 is 10201 database.
I have a sql to pull all payments from vendors for a specific time period; however, now tasked to only show the Address of each Tax Reporting Site. I have tried several commands but have not been successful.
Productcode Productname Quantity AF Ade Fgh 100 LO Ldo Ope 50 SK Ske Kro 47 ....
There may be any number of records in the table. Now I need to print distinct products in different columns such as.
AF LO SK 100 50 47
There may be any number of products...I need to print all those products as different columns as shown above. How to write the Stored procedure for this?
I need write a query based on a bunch of user supplied IDs. The IDs will be pasted as plain text, one per row, by end user in a memo field in the reporting environment, and I need to do something like this:
SELECT PHONE_NUMBER FROM TELEPHONE WHERE ID IN('MEMO_ID1', 'MEMO_ID2',.....)
Reporting environment does not provide any tools to automatically convert plain text into IDs.
We are copying our transaction tables data into another database for our reporting applications (say every day midnight refresh will happen).
The Transaction Database has some 30tables. Existing system is following below points and it is taking 2hours to complete.
1) Truncate data from reporting database (or schema)
2) Direct path Insert into reporting database (or schema) as select * from transaction tables.
3) Rebuild index and Enable constraints.
Note: Each tables data will vary from 30lakhs to 50lakhs. Dump/import/export is not advised by the client.
I want to cut down the time i.e., below 2hours. Instead of above method. Can go for a field in each table specifying the time of each records update/insert operation and then pick the modified records only and copy into reporting db.
How I can maintain a replication scheme from a production database and a standby. I was watching the advanced replication methods of Oracle, but what I want is in the evening to run a process and modify the database incrementally and thus leave until the next night.
And the server I want to allocate to the standby database, also implements other processes, so my settings would be:
Production: Oracle Database 11g Linux 5.5 Standby: Windows 2003 Database 11g
Maybe that data is important, let me make clear that what I want is that the database is updated incrementally.
I have a table MYTABLE in database mydb1 duplicated via materialized view and materialized view log and refresh_snapshot commands to a MYTABLE on mydb2 database.
I like to duplicate this table MYTABLE to a third database mydb2, using the same method (materialized view and refresh_snapshot command).
Is it possible ? What's hapend to the materialized view log where I launch a refresh_snapshots on mydb2 ? How is this materialized view log truncated ?
There is a database db1 which has user U1 in in it contains T1 as table.
Likely,
There is also another database db2 which also has a user named U2 containing table T2 in it.
Now
I want to use the concept of JOINS and Join Table T1 of database named DB1 and Table T2 of database named DB2 and access from database named DB3 using Materialized View Concept.
what shall i do to access tables of DB1 and DB2 from database DB3 using Materialized View.
I am planning to move the databases in multi master replication from HP-Ux to AIX server. I am planning to use export/import to moving the database. But do I need to drop the replication administrator user before I do export/import?
I am implementing GG 11g r2 for 12C database. But i am getting below error. My question Why Goldengate needs specific package ... Since this is homogeneous & heterogeneous.

I came across an implementation where data from DB2 tables are moved to Oracle tables, for BI solutioning, using some oracle procedures called from MS SQL DTS packages which are scheduled jobs.Just being curious, can this be done using OWB or ODI rather than the above detour. I suppose there are some changes being done in those procedures before the data is being loaded into Oracle tables, can't this be done using OWB/ODI? Can it be scheduled too as jobs using OWB/ODI?
why we seem to be unable to report against the ap invoice hold release date using Discoverer in Oracle 11.5.10? the person who wrote our current report used a decode statement to look at the last update date of the release lookup code to create a release date, but i am trying to recreate this in a different tool (Qlikview) and just wanted to understand why we seem to be unable to report on the field as is!
