Ways for improving the Table performance which holds million of records for oracle. Currently we have partitioning and indexing but it doesn't seem to work.
I want to know how we can insert more than 3 million records from one table to another table. Can we use Bulk collect and forall to insert the all data.Can we use create table tableB as select * from tableA; From the above which is one is performance wise good.
Lets take the basic emp table for our Referenece and lets assume that it contains around 60000 Records and all the deptno in that table are Initially 10. Please provide an update statement which would update deptno column of EMP table((based on) order by EMPNO) in for every 120 records incrementing by 1.(DeptNo to be incremented by 1,like 10 ,11 , 12 etc).
First 120 Records deptno should be 10, Next 120 Records deptno should be 11, and so on. . . . . . . For Last 120 records deptno should be updated with 500.
Oracle 11gI have a large table of 125 million records - t3_universe. This table never gets updated or altered once loaded, but holds data that we receive from a lead company. I need to select records from this large table that fit certain demographic criteria and insert those into a smaller table - T3_Leads - that will be updated with regard to when the lead is mailed and for other relevant information. select records from this 125 million record table to insert into the smaller table.
I have tried a variety of things - views, materialized views, direct insert into smaller table...I think I am probably missing other approaches. My current attempt has been to create a View using the query that selects the records as shown below. Then use a second query that inserts into T3_Leads from this View V_Market. This is very slow. Can I just use an Insert Into T3_Leads with this query - it did not seem to work with the WITH clause? My Index on the large table is t3_universe_composite and includes zip_code, address_key, household_key.
CREATE VIEW V_Market asWITH got_pairs AS ( SELECT /*+ INDEX_FFS(t3_universe t3_universe_composite) */ l.zip_code, l.zip_plus_4, l.p1_givenname, l.surname, l.address, l.city, l.state, l.household_key, l.hh_type as l_hh_type, l.address_key, l.narrowband_income, l.p1_ms, l.p1_gender, l.p1_exact_age, l.p1_personkey, e.hh_type as filler_data, 1.p1_seq_no, l.p2_seq_no , ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY l.address_key ORDER BY l.hh_verification_date DESC ) AS r_num FROM t3_universe e JOIN t3_universe l ON l.address_key = e.address_key AND l.zip_code = e.zip_code AND l.p1_gender != e.p1_gender
I would like to know if we can insert 300 million records into an oracle table using a database link. The target table is inproduction and the source table is in development on different servers.The target table will be empty and have its indexes disabled before the insert. if this can be accomplished in less than 1 hour.
The requirement is I have to get the details of all data of previous Active cycle(status A) when the Item became disabled(status = D) for Input date.
In above case,since for Item P1 and on cycle date 04-Nov-12,status is D,I have to consider the previous active cycle which is 03-Nov-12. Based on above std date,the data is queried from another table to get all the Items. Item P2 should not be considered in above case.
Below is the code which I have written which considers the rundate as Input parameter.
-- To get the Items disabled for Input date with Itemdisabled as ( select item,stddate maxcycledate from Item_tbl where rundate = stddate
[code]....
In above case,I'm querying the Item_tbl twice once for getting the disabled Items and once for getting the Previous cycle which is active.
Is there any way to query above only once and get the required results using Lag/Lead functions etc.
As per Article mentioned in Oracle Base,I have converted non-partitioned table (1 million data) into range-partition table,but,I don't see performance improvement in explain .
I am trying to insert huge data into another huge table which is almost taking around 2-3 hrs. See my below query
INSERT /*+ APPEND *//*+ NOLOGGING */ INTO DB1.Table1 SELECT * FROM DB2.Table2 ; COMMIT;
Both Table1 and Table2 have same structure and table1 is master table having 100 Billion records and table2 having 30 Million records. This is a direct insert where each day this operation carried.
If a table(have a primary key) is empty(after truncate),the sql of dml(insert,update) is very quickly,but if the table have many rows about 10,000,000 rows, the dml is very slowly,why?
I want to update a table 8 million records of a table which has 10 millions records, what could be the best strategy if the table has a BLOB column with 600GB worth of data. BLOB itself is 550GB. I am not updating the BLOB column. Usually with non-BLOB data i have tried doing "CREATE TABLE new_table as select <do the update "here"> from old_table;" method .
I have a temporary table (with on commit preserve rows property) which is populated thru insert into command from a procedure. After which, i need to query the records from the populated temp table.
However, my query returns nothing. My procedure works fine cause i tried executing it to populate a regular table and it is ok. However, it shows no output in the temp table cause probably it is creating another session. How do i select the rows from the temp table after populating it from a procedure.
the problem is: 2 tables - one with 2 million records, and the other with 8000 records.
i need to compare for each record in a table if there's a similar string on the other table.
i've created a procedure that does the following:
opens the first cursor (select col1,col2,col3,col4... from table 1) loop opens second cursor (select col1 from table 2) loop if utl_match(col1, table2.col1) > 80 then insert col1,col2,col3,col4... into tableX end if close second cursor close first cursor
the thing is that this procedure takes forever to end...about 8 days.
is it because im using the utl_match function? is there a way to speed this up?
I am inserting data into a global temporary table and then using 'parallel' hint to query from this temporary table. I remember reading that the queries on the temp table may not run in parallel as the parallel sessions may not be able to see the data in the temporary table
However the execution plan as well as px_session, v$sql indicate that the query on the temporary table in fact run in parallel mode
select * from table(dbms_xplan.display_cursor(null,null,'ALLSTATS LAST'));
PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SQL_ID 7d68g52g0mskz, child number 0 ------------------------------------- select /*+ gather_plan_statistics parallel(t,4) */ * from dbo_gtt t order by id,object_id
We have a table with huge data which is skewed on a 'status' column. The 'status' column has 6 distinct values with 1 particular value occupying 80-85% records.
In the batch process we query the data on the status and process the retrieved records. My senior is insisting on partitioning which I see not much feasible considering cost implications just for a part of functionality
See there are 6 status 'A','B','C','D','E','F'
with 'A' occupying 80% records 'B' to 'F' occupies 2% till 14% records in the table(approx)
1) Create a conditional index on status (using case) to have records with all statuses except 'A' Then create If-ELSE structure
IF input parameter is 'A' select /*+ FULL Parallel(t) */ * from t where status='A'; ELSE Select /*+ INDEX (t conditional_index) */ * from t where status in ('B','C'); END IF;
I want to create conditional index here for 2 reasons
1] since it will have values for status except 'A' this nullify the chance that this index will be picked up when status='A' will be queried Thus making the performance worst (status ='A' is for 80% records) - The IF-ELSE is additional protection 2] Less impact on the DMLS as the index will not be on status='A' which contribute to large chunk of records
2)Populate a dummy table which would contain rowid and status. Since the business closes at 21:00 and batch process starts at 21:30 Between these times periods refresh the dummy table every day using merge (to catch business transactions during the day)
Now during the batch process retrieve records from the main table using the rowids in the dummy table depending on the input status value
3)Create index on status Make sure hard coded status values are used in the database procedures Gather stats with the histograms And leave it to the Optimizer to choose the best possible path
I am using one script to delete the records from a table, its taking 1hr to delete.
declare cursor c1 is select ownerid,ownertype from nightly_metric_projects ; v1 c1%rowtype; open c1; loop fetch c1 into v1; exit when c1%notfound; DELETE FROM DGT_ITEMEFFORTDATA WHERE OWNERTYPE = c1.OWNERTYPE AND OWNERID = c1.OWNERID; end loop; close c1; commit;
nightly_metric_projects--1200 records DGT_ITEMEFFORTDATA--13200000
we are busy updating one databasee from a windows platform 2003 oracle 10G to a linux and oracle 11r2
We exported/imported the data and it looks ok Explain plans look the same . but our heavy batches are twice slower than on the windows box ,the two top events are disk related, sequential and scattered reads there are 90% of the time of the batch job , i read some white paper and found that using ASM can be bad in some cases the same with the linux for this particular kind of scattered reads , i was just wondering if just changing the SGA to 10GB instead of 4GB to get more cache and speedup the things .
I am running one simple delete statement in one table with rownum<10000 but it is taking nearly 10 to 15 mins.Table doesn't have any child table rows and triggers.
We have to load 10 million rows in a table from another table based on the multiple joins. How much tablespace size we allocate to the table and for performance point of view how much should be the SGA size.
We have a MV which fetches data from around 27 tables containing 26 joins out of which 25 are outer joins. Some tables in the query are being referred multiple times through different alias names and hence the actual no of physical tables used is 18. This MV takes about 50 mins to refresh through complete refresh mechanism. We decided to make it fast refresh and thus made these configurations:
- Created MV logs based on rowid for each of the base tables. - Recreated MV using FAST refresh,with primary key option enabled - Pulled rowid for all these tables in the select column statement.
Even after making all the recommendations suggested by Oracle for fast refresh MV's we are still getting refresh time of around 65 mins(refresh time increased!!!).We already have indexes built on all the join columns of the base tables. What else do we need to do to make this a "fast" refresh MV ?
I'm extracting/retrieving the data from the oracle database using Java application it's bit slow. However, when I retrieve from the SQL server it's faster than oracle.
My ERP Application is responding fast while running reports or saving entries, if Oracle 10g Express Edition (XE) is installed. But in Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition or Standard Editions the same application is running very slow.
we are using oracle 9i on AIX Server. When Customer were accessing the database, accidentally power was shut down. we restarted the Server,and Oracle database. all resumed successfully.
However while doing "Payments by the customer" it takes a lot of time to insert even a single payment record on database.The database is Live and our customer are very much frustrated,
I have created below function to remove specific words/special characters from string. This function is producing expected result. Using this function i need to insert around 900000 records in name_compress table. Insert is taking around 7 mins, how we can tune this function so that insert will be executed within 1-2 mins.
Function -
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION NAME_FN(IN_STRING1 VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 IS V_OUTPUT VARCHAR2(300); V_OUTPUT1 VARCHAR2(300); V_OUTPUT2 VARCHAR2(300); V_OUTPUT3 VARCHAR2(300);
I am using 11gR2 on windows server. This is the query that runs many times a day and effect badly the performance of database. I don't have much idea about this query.
SELECT TO_CHAR(current_timestamp AT TIME ZONE 'GMT', 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS TZD') AS curr_timestamp, COUNT(username) AS failed_count FROM sys.dba_audit_session WHERE returncode != 0 AND TO_CHAR(timestamp, 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS') >= TO_CHAR(current_timestamp - TO_DSINTERVAL('0 0:30:00'), 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS')
The product I work on requires a query to tell us what tables are dependent on certain types.
SELECT dba_tab_cols.owner, dba_tab_cols.table_name, dba_tab_cols.data_type_owner, dba_tab_cols.data_type FROM dba_tab_cols JOIN dba_types ON dba_types.owner = dba_tab_cols.data_type_owner AND dba_types.type_name = dba_tab_cols.data_type WHERE (dba_types.owner IN ('SCHEMA1', 'SCHEMA2'......))
I find this query to be pretty slow. I think it is because data_type_owner in dba_tab_cols is not indexed. Adding an index is not an option because users expect our product to read-only.
