i know that i can do both action in impdp when using a dblink, but the problem is that some objects in the database cannot be copied via a dblink. the question is if there's a corresponding datapump command to the old exp+imp command i presented.

I have checked Import/Export Utility but the problem is import utility doesn't support conflicts resolution techniques between rows.
For Example if there's a table in the source database have the same row key in the destination database. if i use 'Ignore' parameter with value = y, the destination table will have a duplicate rows.
I want to ask if there's another way to import data from oracle database to another with some mechanism of detecting the conflicts and resolve them?

1.- I download the data to flat files from Solid

Now, I have done the 90% of the data base, but I have found some tables that has description columns and in this description the users writes enters, so when I try to upload the data to Oracle SQL loader cannot recognize this characters.

Nov 23, 2012I had just successfully finished a full importing from Oracle 9i DB to Oracle 11gR2 DB. My export was a full db export.
Prior to this importing, my 11g was a newly created DB with the default SYS, System etc.. schema. Their passwords is different from those in 9i.
However, i realised that after importing... their passwords in 11g was replaced by those passwords in 9i, including SYS and SYSTEM user...

Oct 13, 2012I will have to proceed with Oracle 9 database refresh from production server to integration server. 5 biggest schemas must be exported and imported. They constitute 97% space used in a database. This is very big database so I would like to be sure that everything will go smoothly. That is why i want to ask you some questions.
Have you got any clues for me before I start with exp/imp? From my side i will tell you that I will have to exp/imp schema by schema because there is small space both on production and integration disk for a dump. First thing I thought are dependencies between schemas that are exported and that which are not, and also between schemas that are exported/imported one by one.
This is procedure that I plan:
For every schema that is to be refreshed
{
1. Export schema with ROWS=N CONSTRAINTS=Y
2. EXPORT schema with ROWS=y CONSTRAINTS=N
3. Import schema from step one
4. Disable all the foreign key constraints using ALTER TABLE DISABLE CONSTRAINT.
5. Import schema with rows
}
ALTER TABLE ENABLE CONSTRAINT
With above procedure i think that I will avoid problems with dependencies between schemas exported/imported one by one. But my concern is if there are any dependencies between those schemas and schemas that are not exported. Is there an way to check it before refresh ?

Jul 19, 2012I need to migrate a 10g database into an 11gR2 on same Red Hat Linux platform (although different servers with different versions of Linux). The difference between the two databases however is the SID, the new one has a different SID which means that the datafiles will be named differently (as our datafile names include the SID) otherwise everything else is the same..
I propose to take the following steps:
- install 11gR2 on the new server
- create the 11gR2 database with new SID using DBCA
- full export 10g database
- full import dump file into 11gR2 database.
I however do not have experience of how this will work with respect to the full import where the datafiles are named differently. For example TABLESPACE TEST in the source database has datafile TEST_SOURCE.dbf but the same TABLESPACE TEST in the target database will have datafile TEST_TARGET.dbf.
Will all the data in the source database be correctly imported into the new database?

A business application is installed on a Windows server with an Oracle client 11g.The application is able to start a datapump export, but as matter of fact the dumpfiles are always written to the Linux-server. The directoryobject is defined as DATA_PUMP_DIR (which is the default directory).
Now we are supposed to change the datapump export in a matterthat the dumpfiles get written to the Windows server. Creating a new directory (e.g. c:datapump) and starting than the datapump from theclient always raises the errors

Export/Import/SQL Loader :: Upgrading 9i Database To 11g That Supports 3rd Party Software
Apr 30, 2013Upgrading one of the 9i database to 11g that supports a 3rd party software - ***Vendor provided an over-simplified documentations*** and recommends moving from 9i to 10g before going to 11g. A few changes from 9i to 10g.
1) db_block_size
2) character sets
etc.
Anyway, created the database DBUPGTEST on 10.2.0.1 (ultimately moving to 11gR2, so no point patching to 10.2.0.5, is there?) with all the parameter changes. At this point, these are the 2 db in play:
Current production db: Oracle 9i - PROD dbname => 2048K db block size
Current migrating db to: Oracle10g - DBUPGTEST dbname => 8192k db block size
Steps
According to vendor notes / documentation,
1) create db
2) exp full from 9i
3) imp full to 10g
Problems
1) import ended with completed unsuccessful.
2) user accounts are imported (because their default tablespace is USERS - which had already been created during DB creation); but, user accounts (schema accounts) with a different default tablespace are not imported.
Looking at the imp.log - seems like it's complaining about the db_block_size during tablespace creation - which explains why the schema accounts are not imported; because the tablespace was not created.
My questions
1) How do I import to 10g? Can I create all the tablespace in 10g first? Then import? Will it crap out because it already exists? Or will it import the objects in the schema?
2) How do I refresh data from PROD? Remember this is 9i and most of the expdp functionalities are not available. And I cannot re-exp and re-imp because there are steps (sql to run) after moving to 10g to fix some software upgrade table mappings. If I re-exp from 9i and re-imp to 10g, won't I have to re-run all those steps before the apps will run?

Jul 23, 2013One of our client is using Oracle DB 10.2 with customize applications. They have 5 schemas (one for each module). In their Head Office they are utilizing 4 schemas and remaining one is being utilized on company site based in another city. Due to internet connectivity issue they don't have VPN available so they export schema dump file (imp/exp) on daily basis from that server, transfer it using FTP then import it on Production Server (in Head Office) on daily basis.
Now they are looking for an alternate because the schema size is getting larger day by day and due to internet connectivity issue they face lots of problems while transferring the file.
