PL/SQL :: Call VB Function From A Package Stored Procedure
Apr 30, 2013
I need to call the VB function below from a Procedure's PL/SQL code and capture the returned variable into a varchar2 variable.I looked at the several means and nothing seems to work.
in a certain procedure I'm trying to call a procedure from another package in the same Schema. Package-name: Haku_Hops, procedure-name: veto and submitted is a parameter called opnum. So the following brings no problem:
Hops_Haku.veto(opnum);
But what if in the beginning of the package body I create the following variable: hak_pah := 'Hops_Haku.'; Is it then in anyway possible to call this other procedure through this variable, like e.g. hak_pah||veto(opnum);?
Until now I've only gotten error, even after declaring the variable in the declaration part.
We have a stored procedure named proc_java_test . From this stored proc, we need to call a java class named java_test.java
This class posts messages to a queue hosted on an app server running on a separate box.
create or replace PROCEDURE PROC_JAVA_TEST ( num IN NUMBER ) AS LANGUAGE JAVA NAME 'java_test.post(int) ';
Is it mandatory to place java files in oracle_home/bin ? I tried placing the file on some other location and then calling it from stored proc. It did not work. Can we point oracle to read java file from location other than oracle_home/bin?
All these stored procedures deals with insert/updated transactions . i need to create a new stored procedure to execute all this in a single stored procedure which will be something like
create procedure sp4(param1...param8) as begin Execute sp1 param1...param6 rollback if any error Execute sp2 param1...param8 rollback if any error Execute sp3 param1...param4 rollback if any error end;
I have function in stored procedure which call function from another .net dll, is a first step. And this dll call function from unmanaged dll, is a second step.I do not have any problem in the first step, but when i do second step i have error:
ORA-20100: System.Security.SecurityException System.Security.Permission.SecurityPermission at ... at ... ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_CLR", line 243 ORA-06512: ... ORA-06512: ...
when i am deploying proceduse i set security levels "external".
I'm using an existing stored procedure in my C code. The stored procedure in question has been compiled and is proven to work without any errors. However, when I use the same in my C code, its failing with the above error.
The Store procedure definition looks like :
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION SP( srq_id integer , unid IN SPkg.arr_parmid, parm_typ IN SPkg.arr_parm_typ,
[code].....
Type definitions
TYPE arr_parm_typ IS TABLE OF char INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER; TYPE arr_parmid IS TABLE OF tbl_parm.UNID%TYPE INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER; TYPE arr_parm_lbl IS TABLE OF tbl_parm.PARM_LBL%TYPE INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER; TYPE arr_parm_vlu IS TABLE OF tbl_parm.PARM_VLU%TYPE INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER; TYPE arr_vlu_hint IS TABLE OF tbl_parm.VLU_HINT%TYPE INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
How can i test my Procedure /Function/Package, i mean how to unit & integration test my Procedure /Function/Package. Is there any tool available in the market, or we have to test in manually .
is it possible to obtain a called procedure/function name within package?
For a measuring and tracing purpose, I would like to store an info at the beginning of each procedure/function in package with timestamp + additional details if needed.
For example:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY "TEST_PACKAGE" IS PROCEDURE proc_1 IS BEGIN
[Code]....
I would like to replace "???????" with a function which would return a name of called procedure, so result of trace data after calling TEST_PACKAGE.proc_2 would be:
Interviewer asked me "Tell me Diff. between Stored procedure vs. Function ".....I given technical answer which is mentioned in my Faq..But he asked me , dont gv me answer in technical manner..He was interested in which case u use Stored procedure and Function....
My purpose is to audit the execution of a specified procedure, function in a package. So I try this audit option audit execute on dbms_java.longname Althought I'm using SYS, it leads to this error:
SQL Error: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist 00942. 00000 - "table or view does not exist" But when I try audit execute on dbms_java It's ok and it audit every statement that using that package dbms_java. But thing I want is audit the specified procedure on this package, not all of this package.
why DBA_OBJ_AUDIT_OPTS show DBMS_JAVA package object type is procedure ???
I have wrote a Stored Procedure Function that get all the rows from a Staging Table and assigns it to a CLOB and returns the CLOB. The issue is I'm getting the dreaded
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error ORA-06512: at "F_CLOB_TEST", line 21 ORA-06512: at line 7
The error does not occur when I remove the 'PRC_ID', 'S_FIL_NAME' & 'exportDt' from the query. It works fine. The PRC_ID has data such as "700$702$7 05$706$707$708$709$710$711$712$713$714$715$294404$294405$294407$294408$294409$294410"
and S_FIL_NAM is the same for all columns - "SBENE_FILID810-2010-04-07-10.59.17"
The query returns 829 rows. Also I have to include a few more columns in the query which have data larger than the 'PRC_ID', but I have not included them here in the sample code, as this code by itself returns the ORA-6502 error.
create or replace FUNCTION "F_CLOB_TEST" (job_id in Number) return clob is c_clob clob; [code]....
In Database A I have a series of config tables and stored procedures/functions In Database B I have a lot of tables.
I would like to execute my stored procedures and all associated functions in database A on my data in database B.
Now I've figured out that creating a database link enables me to do SQL selects on data in both A and B...but how do I run SP/Funcs ? I've read something about packages but not sure if I'm heading in the right direction.
Do I need to create a simple synonym ? Can I use the existing DB link ? or is there a special way of calling them, or...
I like the A/B database set up since I can keep battle tested code in one location and have it work across multiple dbs...saves me having to create everything in every database.
There are 2 Oracle databases with pseudo names Remote and Local. I have a function in Remote called FUS.F_Return_10 which simply returns 10 for testing purposes, where FUS is a schema name. In Local I want to create a procedure that will call the above function. Here's the PL/SQL:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TEST ( V_COUNT OUT NUMBER ) AS V_FOO NUMBER(2,0); BEGIN
[Code]...
There's a Public Database Link called PER_ACC in Local. When I try to create this procedure I get: Encountered symbol "@" when expecting one of the following: .(*%&................
Currently some jobs created in WBT scripting need to converted into oracle,plsql.There is one job in WBT scripting, which will invoke the oracle reports inside and generate the PDF files in the destination path as follows:
a = runhide("c:Program FilesInternet Exploreriexplore.exe", "http://pscm9722:7778/reports/rwservlet?USERID=%LOGONINFO%+server=rep_pscm9722+destype=file+desname=D:ORACLE10G\%CCALLRptName%+desformat=PDF+PARAMFORM=no+report=PCCALL.RDF") a = runhide("c:Program FilesInternet Exploreriexplore.exe", "http://pscm9722:7778/reports/rwservlet?
[code]...
Now, i want to convert this into oracle,plsql? Is it possible or not?
I want Oracle stored function/procedure to calculate number of working days between two dates. We need to exclude Firdays and Saturdays as there are weekend holidays and also exclude official holidasy that lie between two dates.
I've created a database package which is having record type and one procedure. I want to execute or call this package from oracle 6i form. How to do this.
SQL> BEGIN 2 NCOTE.OTEGENERATOR; 3 END; 4 / BEGIN * ERROR at line 1: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small ORA-06512: at "GENEVA_ADMIN.NCOTE", line 3 ORA-06512: at line 2
I must be trying to do a select or put some other value into a variable that is too small. The Odd thing is that when I run the stored procedure again (as long as I don't exit from sqlplus)...
why the process is successful the second (or third, etc) call from the sqlplus but not the first. If I exit sqlplus and then start it again, once more I get the error again.
I want to have something like this:Run PL/SQL function and in middle of function call JAVA function and when JAVA function is done continue PL/SQL function.
Because I have PL/SQL function who inserts into table information.And the JAVA function is uploading/streaming file to column->blob.And in the end of PL/SQL function goes insert into table with file extension and check for *.edoc validation.I can't do it with PL/SQL only. how to do this right or how to run JAVA function in PL/SQL.
