Nov 27, 2012Is it possible to create a completely self-contained installer that deploys all the Oracle files along with the application (i.e. the user doesn't need to install instant client, mess around with configuring path environment variables, etc.)?

What if as part of the installer, I need to test a connection string entered by the user? That seems to be the sticking point for me. Even after installing the instant client (from the x64 xcopy zip file using install.bat), the installer is not able to connect to the database.
And, the application is 64 bit only (we need the 64 bit Crystal Reports runtime), meaning I've got the 64 bit Oracle instant client installed. I suspect that might be the problem since the msiexec installer process is 32 bit.

Aug 28, 2007I need to create a report that show the overall performance of the system in hourly basic. I need to check all the transaction table in the system. So I try to find Cross Tab query. I need display hourly basic in column. From 00 hour to 23 hour.
In my table i will have a sysdate that track all the record DD/MM/YYYY HH24:Mi, so now i need so split it to a hourly in column. This is how it will look like. Think show in picture is easier.
Each row actually retrieve from a table. So basically i need to count each table, on that day got how many transactions then split all to a hourly basic and display it.
Reports & Discoverer :: Creating A Report Sever For Each App?
May 13, 2011At the moment we have 10 apps using forms and about 6 of them using reports. All the reports get run from the forms. We are upgrading forms and reports from 10g to 11g and the dev teams are not willing to recode the forms to pick up ENVID's etc. i have 1 reports server running and have configured to run one of the apps reports but my question is how do i get the other apps to run under that report server, can this be done.I have thought about creating a report sever for each app but not sure if this is best practice and a bit over kill.Would i be wrong to create a report server for each app.

I have an Interactive Report with a column that I need to create a link on but I need to pass the value of another column.
This report shows the Features of a particular Release. There is a select list for the Release that is selected and executes the report. There is a column that indicates whether the Feature has a Commitment attached to it. If there is have that a link to another report that shows all the Commitments for that Feature by passing the FEATURE_ID which is also a column on the Feature report.
Query:

If the "Commitment Exists" has a 'No' then no link. I was also wondering if the Commitment report could open in a seperate window and make it modal?

Jun 15, 2010I'm working on a Oracle Database, and I'm gettin incorrect results when including a date field in the select list which is NULL in the table.
This works correctly and returns exactly one row:
SELECT firstField FROM table WHERE firstField = 'value'
while this doesn't and returns no rows:
SELECT firstField, secondField FROM table WHERE firstField = 'value'
Where secondField is of type date and its value is NULL (00-000-00). Note that the only thing that changes is the select list.
Performance Tuning :: Auto-Stats Gathering Not Including Schema?
May 16, 2011I have several databases that i've recently upgraded from 9i to 11g. With all of them, the automatic stats gathering process has worked just fine every night during the maintenance window.
However, i have this other database that i created and it seems that the only stats being gathered are on the sys and system schemas and not the actual schema that holds all of our tables.
I did some searching, but i'm not sure i was using the right search terms, because i came up empty.

3) After taking Rman backup, I issued command - "Drop tablespace ABCD including contents and datafiles;"
4) When i issue "LIst backup" through RMAN, its shows blank for the particular tablespace datafile.

I am trying to get data from a table where time is up to certain number of hours, but when it reached the 00 clock my whole query returns no records, even though there is plenty of records before the midnight hour, because the data is saved as lets say 2530 instead of 0130
I am using this

since oracle deals with a 24hour clock, my code doesn't seem to work if there is data for after midnight (00 hour). I am using :Entry_Blk.up_to_hour/24 to determine up to how many hours I want to see data, i.e.
on_time <= TO_CHAR(SYSDATE + 2/24, 'HH24MI')
will give me data up to 2 hours

If I was looking to work out if 01:00 to 04:00 includes 02:00, then this works:

But, if the time go over two days (with midnight in between), it doesn't work:

Generating ADDM Reports Automatically Every Hour?
Jun 9, 2012I have been trying to develop a script for generating ADDM Reports every hour and save it in a directory on the server. I was able to develop a script to run the AWR Reports for every hour and save them in a directory, but I ran into troubled waters in the ADDM script.
Database Version : Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.3
OS : IBM AIX 5.3
I'm trying to debug the script below to generate ADDM reports on a per hour basis and save them in a folder as well as mail than to a particular entity.

Initially, the script did return me an ADDM report, but the problem was that it generated the report for only a set of two snapshots (eg: 410110 and 410111). later when the snapshots advanced further, it still generated the same report for the same snapshots.
Now, it seems it have made several changes to the script in the declare and dbms_advisor section and the reports are not being generated anyway.
One problem I am facing is
ORA-13605: The specified task or object ADDM_UAT does not exist for the current user.
ORA-06512: at "SYS.PRVT_ADVISOR", line 2043
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_ADVISOR", line 560
ORA-06512: at line 1
It seems the task is not being generated at all in my user's schema.
