Application Express :: Displaying Multiple Values In Auto-complete Item
Aug 15, 2013
I am creating multiple entries for auto populate item as shown in this jquery plugin link below but i am trying to change this so values come from table query. how can i achieve this even using web services in apex 4.1.1 but i am trying NOT to use remote url or external file?
A few years back, most likely under Apex 4.0, I started using Jquery - Autocomplete for looking up employee names, hostnames, etc. This used some Javascript that someone had posted (don't recall who), and it worked pretty well. I would add a stanza like this to the page def (to be run after the page loads). The X02 passed some extra info to the on demand procedure to work with the search.
END;The g_x01 value is what the user is typing into the text box - once they hit three characters, it gets sent to Oracle for processing via the on demand procedure. The g_x02 (and 03, 04,..) are additional parameters - perhaps from a parent LOV. General concept with the returned data is the first element is the text to be searched, the second is the actual value (typically an integer - primary key), and the third value is what ends up in the text box once a value is selected (the searching value often has additional identifying info.)
This approach worked pretty well, although it did not play well with cascading LOVs. But once I upgraded to Apex 4.2, I started hitting other issues with jQuery version differences, and some odd failures. To make matters worse, the original developer of the Javascript module, abandoned it - was not doing additional work with it.
Combobox I did NOT want to re-invent the wheel, and it seemed to be a much better approach to move into PlugIn world - ideally using a plugin that someone ELSE wrote and was maintaining. I looked at the LOV Friendly Autocomplete plug in - and even installed it a few places - and discovered that it did not play well with my earlier autocomplete code.
My concern with using the LOV Friendly Autocomplete - is that I didn't know how to provide any of the "Target Name" search info to the LOV (since that is what is being typed by the user at the time).I also started looking at the Combobox plug in - which seemed even closer with Lazy Loading=Yes (I also liked the ability to add new items on the fly) - but I was not sure how to provide the "Target Name" info the the Pipelined function that generates the list of values.
I want to get rid of all of my old Autocomplete javascript and move to one (or more) plugins - (Which is why the details above don't matter, just trying to provide some background)Is this a good direction (Combobox or LOVFA)? How/Where do I connect my search (lov generation)?
I have created a workflow which is going through 12 pages. At each page the user needs to choose his variables.
This could be the y-axes, x-axes, amount, surname ... etc. The variables are given to the next page via branch to next page process. Everything works well until I need to create an interactive report out of the chosen variables.
Lets say I have a variable called :P7_XAXIS with static LOV :
Amount,Amount;Date,Date;quantity,quantity
Page 8 is my IR. If I try :
Select :P7_XAXIS from mytable This will not work.
But if I try
Select Date from mytable This will work. Why? In my workflow there are several variables that can be used in a where condition. This also works. But I need to access the values before the condition and I also need to get a chart out of it.
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> function f_setglp(pThis,p_app_item,p_other_record_level_item) { var curr_id = $x(pThis).id; // OK ! var curr_glp = $x(p_app_item).id; // returns undefined var curr_orli = $x(p_other_record_level_item).id; // returns undefined
[Code]...
The Javasxcript function fires OK on click in the "Product" attribute but: PMO_GLP_PK is an Application Item that Javascript can´t reference as I called YES_NO is another tabular form attribute and the reference returns also "undefined"
I had a complex drill-down dashboard where I was setting page items through $s(Page Item, value) from the Chart Links. But when I did the same thing in APEX 4.2 EA on [URL]...it is simply opening a blank page. whether in 4.2 that Java API has been removed?
How can i apply currency format to the select list values queried from database tables. The data is stored in database in number format. The user wants to see 1000 separator commas in the list item values.
I would like to have a table in HTML region and to display in the table some Page Items from the page.
I got the code like this: { <table> <tr><td>&P1_ECEMEA_ASSISTANCE</td></tr> <tr><td>&P1_ECEMEA_WIP</td></tr> </table> }
It shows the Page Item names as text, not the values. However this code without the table tags:
{ ECEMEA Request for CQT Assistance: &P1_ECEMEA_ASSISTANCE. ECEMEA CQT Work in Progress: &P1_ECEMEA_WIP. }
works and the Page Item values are displayed.
Is it possible to display the Page Item values in the HTML table at all or I have to use a different method of showing the values in a table? The above is only a snippet of the code. I need to display about 30 Page Items, formatted in a table with headings.
what kind of region is the best to be used or if I should only use some escape symbols in the table code.
A computation after submit pl/sql function process to trim off the first part of the string (CQ..) within the list manager values. Support for example the list manager contains values such as
The computation process should trim off the first part(CQ..) and should return the list manager value as SAMPLE1..TEST1SAMPLE2..TEST2SAMPLE1..TEST2 Oracle APEX 4.0.2 is the version and Oracle 10g r2 is the database.
I'm trying to update a number field on an apex page by summing up the values of multiple page items. I've tried to follow this tutorial
[URL]........
especially the "Create a Set Value Dynamic Action Using PL/SQL" part.
In the tutorial example they return an page item value P3_SAL multiplied by a multiplier they've determined by another page item's case. What I want to do is much simpler in that I just want to add up multiple page item values and then display them in a number field at the bottom of the page.
so the code I tried to use based on the tutorial is in the tab: Home >Application Builder>Application 103>Page 3>Edit Dynamic Action>Create / Edit Action
Set Type: PL/SQL Function Body
PL/SQL Function Body:
BEGIN return :P3_ITEM1+P3_ITEM2+P3_ITEM3; END;
Page Items to Submit: P3_ITEM1,P3_ITEM2,P3_ITEM3
But it gives me an error that I need to declare the identifiers, yet it works if I only use one item and I can perform any arithmetic.
I have a user requirement where they want to be able to select multiple values for a single parameter that will act as a filter for a report. The possible values for a parameter can come from almost any master data Oracle eBusiness table. I don't want to just present the user with a LOV where they search down a list selecting what they want. That wouldn't be very practical for selecting part numbers from 1000's of rows. I also want the user to easily see what values they have selected. I thought about providing a button that would navigate to a multi-row form where they could record their values and use those values in the where clause of the SQL for the report, but that is a somewhat complex solution I have never tried before. how to do this. I'm working in the latest version 4 of APEX.
I just upgraded from APEX 4.1.1 to APEX 4.2.2All is good, but I can't create pie charts. Pie Charts never worked for me, but I waited until 4.2.2 to try again. Still will not work. I imported the workspace from my previous APEX version,so something must not be set correct in my workspace. I can create the pie chart on apex.oracle.com
Here's my info:- Application Express Version: 4.2.2- Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production- OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.9- WebLogic 10.3.5- Apex Listener 1.1.3.243.11.40
I just upgraded my APEX 4.0 application to 4.2, and ran the utility to upgrade my charts to HTML5. After completing the upgrade, I noticed my charts no longer displayed in the region.
I am currently using IE9 to view the application, since that's the browser over 90% of my users have. Is there something more I need to install?
I need to enable authentication over LDAP SSL. I've configured a wallet (auto login) containing required certificates and set accordingly WALLET_PATH and WALLET_PWD settings using apex_instance_admin.set_parameter method. With this, everything is working fine and LDAP over SSL is working well. It confirms that the wallet is properly configured, valid and usable.
So, the wallet was created with auto login option and it seems to work well without specifying password when calling utl_http.
Proof of properly configured auto login wallet (without password). TEST01@DB11G> exec show_html_from_url('https://www.verisign.com/'); -- test without wallet BEGIN show_html_from_url('https://www.verisign.com/'); END;
* ERROR at line 1: ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1527 ORA-29261: bad argument ORA-06512: at "TEST01.SHOW_HTML_FROM_URL", line 25 ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1130 ORA-29024: Certificate validation failure ORA-06512: at line 1TEST01@DB11G> exec utl_http.set_wallet('file:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/network/admin'); -- set wallet info for use without password (autologin)
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
TEST01@DB11G> exec show_html_from_url('https://www.verisign.com/'); -- It works!
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed. So, when I configure WALLET_PATH without WALLET_PWD, it not seems to work as it should with my auto login wallet...
Is it APEX not handling auto login wallets correctly?
I have a number of reports subregions in a page . Each of reports sub-region has a HTML text and a cell (report with a single column ) having a count sql . Now , the problem is that the HTML text in some below sub-regions are not getting displayed .. Is there a limit on the no. of sub regions???? Can there be any alternative way to display all the HTML text and the corresponding count sql in a page .
I am using custom authentication with APEX 4.1.1 and I want to display custom error messages on the login page if authentication fails. In my authentication function I'm using apex_util.set_authenication_result to set a result code (code below).
I've tried to use the apex_util.get_authentication_result on the login page to hide and show custom messages but it's not working. I don't believe the apex_util.get_authentication_result is actually obtaining the result?
FUNCTION verify_user( p_username VARCHAR2, p_password VARCHAR2 ) RETURN BOOLEAN IS v_ctr NUMBER; [code].........
I am using Skilllbuilders modal page 2.0 to edit the form. Sometimes, the end user clicks on the edit link to trigger the modal page and sees the form , but he/she could not do any changes. Thus, when clicking Apply Changes button, we will be redirected to the page 102 ( the empty page ). How can I get around and make the page 102 to close automatically in case I am redirected to it ?
I put this in a JavaScript a dynamic action to be fired as page loads:
Need to create a report based on date ranges and for this created a interactive report and two page item datepicker fields P15_fromdate and p15_todate. Report works fine with this criteria.But user wants one more field quarter(P15_quarter), When they select the quarter the range values has to get reset and as to get applied to report.
Issue here is unable to find a way to set the page range item values based on the quarter field selection
After setting up a data entry page,The logic in my page requires that all the records in my tabular form should be displayed .The tabular form is based on a collection, and the user selects rows through a checkbox.Any reload of the page due to pagination will break the logic, as some calculation and display events occur during page load, based on the previous page.
I need to display about 25 rows.I have changed the report attribute to display 50 rows, but it displays rows only up to the bottom of the screen, i.e. 11 rows.
Unfortunately I only just added some new rows and saw this behaviour else I would not have gone that way, as I expected APEX to display all rows if required.
I have a page with about 8 Classic reports. 4 of them percentage values, 4 totals. I have one RG with a Percentage or total option. When I select the percentage radio, it should hide all the total regions. When I select the totals radio it should hide all the percentage regions. Simple? So I thought. This is what I did.
1. Created a RG(P2_RG) -> Page value is redirect and set value.
2. STATIC:Percentage;P,Total;T
In the RG, I have created a normal DA which has the true and false events as follows.
Event -> Change Items -> P2_RG equal to -> P
In the true actions, I have hidden the 4 totals regions. shown the 4 Percent regions. In the false action, I have shown hidden the 4 percent region shown the 4 totals region.
The event specification for one these true actions is
Action -> Hide (If I am hiding) Fire when event is ->True Selection type -> region Region -> The region I want to hide/show.
But it does not work! I tried to replicate the issue on apex, by using a small example but could not. Works fine in apex following the same process.

I tried to debug by having a display item to show the value when I change the radio button. The values are changing properly. I tried actually, adding a condition filter in the region itself by using the "Value of item/column in expression1 = expression 2" where expression one I tried :P2_RG and expression 2 as P but that just hides the whole region.
Ive a requirement which ive overlooked for a while now as below,
On my tabular form i have fields: Empid as Select List and when the value is picked from this Select List EmpID i want the associated/corresponding phone# displayed in its TEXT FIELD in that same row,
apex 4.1.1/Oracle 11gR2,
also i tried the below as a workaround but it doesnt fulfill my requirement, [URL]....
I have an application item that receives a web service result. This result is like 'MARIA','JOSE','JESUS'. I'm using this string into the parameters of the interactive report, but this is not recognized. I'm showing the content of the application item into a pl sql region and the content is 'MARIA','JOSE','JESUS', when I include this application item into the query, the IR shows me 'MARIA','JOSE','JESUS'
I used Region, Process by to search the report which appears as shown above. Then I use Choose Auditors column to select my Auditor and copy paste it into the report under To be Audited By col. Is there a way to automate the process. I am here using a tabular form in APEX. My main aim is to assign auditors based on Region, not equal to Processed by.
i user javascript to set a item value by a Partial Page Refresh .then i want to turn to another page by a button and Transfer the item's new value to the second page's item,but the value of the item is always teh old value but not de new value,how can i get the new value of the item first.
it is possible to have two Validations one Page Item. Also I need to execute them one by one. If one is passed then go to the other and validate that one.
Example:P20_FORM_ACTIONP20_REOPENP20_REASON Validation 1: P20_REASON != 0 with condition P20_FORM_ACTION = CLOSEIf Validation 1 is passed then go to Validation 2Validation 2: P20_REASON != 0 with condition P20_REOPEN = YES
If Validation 2 is passed, then submit the form otherwise get error. is possible in Application Express 4.2.2.00.11. I tried to put the validations as described above into my application, but it did not work. Only one Validation was executed.
in my application I have several pages with the item of date. How to ensure that all items had the same date for all pages and can be set on each page ?.
